Finding your way around Settings

A map of the seven settings groups, and the fastest way to find any one.

01

The seven groups

Settings is where you tell Maelo how you work: what you charge, when you take bookings, what your clients hear from you, and who can get into your account. It is split into seven groups, and almost every question of the form "where do I change this?" is answered by knowing which group owns it.

  • General is who you are. Profile Info holds your photo, your logo, your name and your username. Client Hub controls the banner and layout of the private space each client gets.
  • Scheduling is when and where you work. Home Locations, Timezone, Booking Rules and Calendars.
  • Appointments is what things cost. Appointment Rates sets your currency and hourly rate, Appointment Types sets the duration, price and deposit for each thing a client can book.
  • Info/Policies is your paperwork. FAQ/Booking Policies, On-the-day Waiver, Aftercare Info and Decline Reasons.
  • Notifications is who hears what. Branding styles every email Maelo sends for you, Client Notifications is what your clients receive, Personal Notifications is what reaches you.
  • Payments is getting paid. Deposits & Fees, Final Payments, Tap to Pay, Receipts and Platform Fees.
  • Account is the account itself. Account Info, Devices, Data & Privacy and Referral Program.

Search instead of hunting

There is a search box at the top of Settings marked Search settings…. It matches plain language, not just panel names, so typing "tax", "venmo", "2fa", "reschedule" or "google calendar" lands you on the right panel without you needing to know which of the seven groups owns it.

Results are grouped by section so you can see where you are about to go. Use the arrow keys to move through them and Enter to jump.

Tip

If you can name the thing you want to change, search is always faster than the tabs. It is the one part of Settings worth learning first.
03

On desktop and on your phone

On a wide screen the seven groups run across the top as tabs, and the panels inside the group you picked run down the left. On a phone you get a grid of the seven groups instead, and you tap into a group, then into a panel. The back arrow takes you up one level.

Both are the same Settings with the same panels, so a link someone sends you opens to the same place on either.

The guided walkthrough

Open the options menu at the top right of Settings and choose Show me around. It walks you through the eight things worth setting first: your username, your live links, your locations and hours, your booking rules, your currency and rate, connecting Stripe, and choosing which alerts reach you.

It is read-only, so nothing changes while you follow it, and you can replay it from the same menu whenever you want.

06

Settings save themselves

There is no Save button on most panels. Type or flip a switch and Maelo saves a moment later, showing you a small status line while it does. If a save fails you get a message telling you why, rather than a silent loss.

Note

A saved setting applies everywhere at once, including any other device or tab you have open and the public booking form your clients use.
