Choose a theme to set the overall colour and mood of your dashboard. Themes change backgrounds, surfaces and accents together so everything stays consistent.

Some themes include animated background patterns. They look great, but heavier animations can cost a little performance on older devices.

Individual surfaces can use their own background where it makes sense — your dashboard theme is the starting point, not a hard rule.
