What works
What makes a good tattoo artist bio
Someone lands on your profile from a reel, a tag or a friend's healed piece. They give your bio a couple of seconds. In that time it needs to answer four questions: what do you tattoo, where, can I get in, and how. Everything else is a bonus.
Your style, in the words clients search
Lead with what you actually want to tattoo more of. "Fine line and botanicals" tells a client in one glance whether you are right for their idea. Two or three styles is plenty. A list of ten reads as "anything", which is rarely what you mean.
Your city, and your studio if it helps
Most clients book locally, and plenty of people search Instagram for a style plus a city. Put the city in your bio, and tag your studio if it has its own account, so people can see the space before they walk in.
Your books status
Open, closed, waitlist or a guest spot. Saying it up front saves you a pile of "are you booking?" messages, and when your books open the bio does part of the announcing for you. Update it the day things change.
One clear way to book
Pick one route and say it as the last line: a booking link, a DM, or an email. If you take requests three ways, you will chase details three ways. A booking form asks for the idea, placement, size and references up front, so the first message is one you can quote from.
The link that does the work
Your bio only has room to point. The link is where people see your work, your policies and your form. A booking page beats a link tree of six buttons, because the person who taps it wants to book, not to choose. If you do not have one yet, a Maelo page takes a few minutes.
Keep extras for when there is room. Pronouns and the languages you tattoo in help the right clients feel welcome, and years tattooing earns trust. The generator adds them first and drops them first when space runs out. Instagram counts every line break toward the 150 characters, which is why short lines are worth it.

Your name field
Usernames and the name field
Your username is how people tag you, so keep it short and easy to spell out loud. The patterns tattoo artists use most are your name plus "tattoo" or "ink", or "tattoosby" plus your first name. Avoid strings of underscores and numbers, which are hard to type from memory. Add your name to the generator to get a list built from it.
The name field on your profile is separate from your username, and Instagram search reads it. Putting your style there, like "Ava Stone, fine line tattoos", helps people who search for a style find you. Once your bio is done, the books open post maker makes the post to go with it.
Questions
Instagram bio questions, answered.
What should a tattoo artist put in their Instagram bio?
Your style, where you tattoo, whether your books are open, and how to book. Pronouns, languages and years tattooing are worth adding if you have room. End with the booking line, so the last thing people read is what to do next.
How long can an Instagram bio be?
Instagram allows 150 characters, and line breaks count toward that. Every bio this tool writes is checked against the limit, so it pastes in without being cut.
How do I keep the line breaks when I paste my bio?
Copy the bio from the tool and paste it into the Bio field in Edit profile. The line breaks come with it. Avoid typing trailing spaces at the end of a line, which some phones turn into odd gaps.
Should I put "DM to book" or a booking link?
A link is easier to keep organised. A DM inbox mixes booking requests with everything else, and the details you need arrive over several messages. A booking form asks for idea, placement, size and references up front, so you can quote from one message.
Are the hashtags based on Instagram data?
No. They are suggestions from a hand-picked list of common tattoo tags, matched to the styles and city you choose. Tap a tag on Instagram to check its recent posts before you rely on it.
Does this tool store what I type?
No. The bios are written in your browser as you type. Nothing is sent anywhere, and there is no sign-up.
