Delete your Maelo account
This page explains how to delete an account in the Maelo app for iOS and Android or on maelo.app, what happens to your data, and how to request deletion if you no longer have the app. It applies to tattoo artist accounts and to Client Hub accounts used by clients.
Delete your account in the app
Artists
- Open Maelo and sign in.
- Go to Settings, then Account, then Account Info.
- Tap Delete account, choose when, and type DELETE.
- Enter the 6-digit code we email to the address on your account.
Clients (Client Hub)
- Open the Client Hub in the Maelo app or at maelo.app/client-hub and sign in.
- Tap the ⋮ menu at the top of the page and choose Delete account.
- Choose when, type DELETE, and enter the 6-digit code we email you.
Request deletion without the app
Enter the email address you use with Maelo. We send a code to that address to confirm the request is yours, so nobody else can delete your account.
Can't receive email at that address any more? Write to support@maelo.app and tell us the email address your account uses. We will confirm the request is yours before acting on it, and reply within 30 days.
When your account is deleted
- In 30 days (the default). Your account stays usable until the date we give you. To change your mind, sign in before then and choose Keep my account in the same place you asked for deletion.
- Now. Deletion starts straight away and finishes within 24 hours. It cannot be undone.
- We email you when the deletion is scheduled and again when it is complete. You can check progress any time on the deletion status page with the confirmation code from those emails.
What is deleted
For every account
- Your sign-in account, email address, name and profile photo
- Every signed-in session on every device, and your push notification registrations
- Your notifications, and the list of artists you blocked
- Usage analytics linked to your account, erased through our analytics software as part of the deletion
For artist accounts, also
- Your booking page, profile details, flash designs, portfolio and page images
- Your clients, booking requests, messages, quotes, sessions, appointments and waivers
- Uploaded files: reference images, waiver photos, receipts, documents and map snapshots
- Income, expense and mileage records you entered, and payment records other than the limited record described below
- Calendar connections and their access tokens, and your Instagram connection
- Settings, templates, availability and locations
- Your connected Stripe payments account is closed once any pending payouts have finished. Stripe does not give Maelo artists a separate Stripe dashboard, so download your payment records first if you need them
What is kept, and why
- A limited payment record (artists). Canadian tax law requires us to keep business records for 6 years after the end of the year they relate to, including records of payments made through Maelo and the fees Maelo charged. If you took payments through Maelo we keep only: your name, business name, email address, country and province, business number (if you gave one) and Stripe account ID; and for each deposit, payment, quick sale, Tap to Pay payment, no-show fee, refund and payout, its type, amount, currency, date, status, tax, tip, Maelo fee, payment method, the client's name where the payment had one, and the Stripe reference numbers. We do not keep client email addresses, phone numbers, messages, notes or images. Each record is kept until 6 years after the end of the calendar year of that payment, is restricted to the few people who handle tax and legal requests, and is then deleted automatically. Before deleting, you can download a copy from Settings, then Account.
- Records your artists hold (clients). Booking requests, messages, waivers and payment records you shared with an artist are part of that artist's business records, so deleting your Client Hub account does not remove them. To have them deleted, contact the artist, or email support@maelo.app and we will help. If that artist later deletes their own account, a payment you made to them may remain in the limited payment record above, with your name only.
- Payment records at Stripe. Stripe processes Maelo payments and keeps its own records of payments and payouts to meet its legal obligations. These are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
- Safety reports. Reports that someone else made about your account's conduct are kept so we can deal with abuse. Reports you made about others are kept without your name or email.
- A record of the deletion. The confirmation code, the dates and the outcome, with no name, email or content, so we can show the request's status and show that it was completed.
- Backups and logs. Copies in our encrypted database backups and in short-lived server and error logs are not edited individually. They are deleted automatically as those backups and logs expire. Error reports are not linked to your account, so they cannot be found or deleted by account; they are deleted automatically at the end of their retention period.
